October 3, 2009
The St James Catholic Church of Millstadt held their annual ‘Schlachtfest’ Saturday, October 3rd. Although the weather was cool people came out to enjoy the harvest time event. The afternoon and evening were filled with food, games, and raffles. There was something for everyone regardless of how young or old you may be. Perhaps the best part of the event was the socializing and fellowship among parishioners and their guests.

The 9th annual BBQ/Chili Cook-off sponsored by the Millstadt Optimist Club was a huge success with an estimated of 3500 to 4000 in attendance. There seemed to be just as many people in Liederkranz Park for this cook-off as there was for the homecoming. And why not? There was some great food to be had and the weather was absolutely perfect for this time of the year.

It’s a philosophy and a way of doing business that TJ tries to incorporate into his stores. The stores location at 625 East Washington in Millstadt, was the former location of the Millstadt Supermart. Opening in January of 2007 they will be celebrating three years of doing business at that location in 2010.
