 Millstadt Senior Corner

Young At Heart

by Charlotte Mehrtens

hrtbeat+

The question asked around the country to seniors has been, “Do you use your senior center in your community?” Most likely the answer will be no. Is there a reason why they don’t, we have no idea other than seniors don’t use something planned with them in mind. Here at Millstadt Township Senior Services we provide hot meals at noon – Monday through Friday, provide home delivered meals to those who are home bound, Lifeline responders, transportation for those needing to go to the doctor, beauty shop, and shopping. Free income tax service in the spring, 55-Alive Driving classes, quilting, Circuit Breakers filed, Senior Real Estate Freeze, flu shots given each fall, and many other health programs and activities.

Funding is very dependent on the number of clients we serve. Coming to the senior center one or two days a month helps keep the center open. Many small towns do not have these services available to them. Why sit at home by yourself when you can visit with fellow seniors. Come use your senior center we are waiting for you. Don’t let the senior center across the country close because they aren’t being used, the government will use the money someplace else and you as seniors will not have the services many seniors need.
